My Academic Journey
Starting off as a clumsy and careless 8-year-old student who messed up easy multiplication sums to rounding off my school career as the top academic achiever of my batch, I am in awe at myself on my academic journey.

How did this happen?

Well, I was driven to continuously push myself to reach higher standards through self-study. I also stuck to a daily schedule and made sure I focused on maintaining a good balance between my studies and extra-curricular activities. I also tried to cut down on study time by learning the subject matter well at school by actively engaging in discussions and clarifying all my doubts. In addition, I studied my text books thoroughly while doing my homework - thus saving study time later.
I also realized that if I approached my studies with a positive sense of excitement and enthusiasm to learn without restrictions, studying would became an enjoyable endeavor. All subjects are interlinked in one way or the other. I made it an exciting scavenger hunt to find links between different subjects. Whether it be linking the chemistry of combustion in my science book with ancient iron furnace ruins in the history book or using the knowledge of mathematical algebraic expressions in business accounting, I had lots of fun studying certain topics from different perspectives. This also meant that I needed to know my subject matter inside out before attempting to find connections. This approach was a double win for me: I achieved top grades and studying was never a bore!
Practical application of theory was another effective technique that I discovered. I still use pythagoras to find the shortest route!

I also enjoyed teaching my classmates subjects they were weak in. This too helped me to perform better academically. Before A' Level school term tests, I gave my peers crash courses, covering many topics from our vast economics and business syllabi in 20-30 minute lectures that left me breathless. However, I found this challenge exhilarating!

Do not let academics and exams cage you in like a prisoner. Explore and learn without limits. Make academics the key that unlocks your door to freedom!
